Like all gambling games, roulette is primarily about the bet. The spinning wheel exists to make the game interesting. The rules are for no other reason than to make it is easier for players’ to play. The only real thing in the game is knowing how much and what to place the bet on. And, this is where it gets a little tricky.
The spinning wheel has two sections. One is the circumference divided with the numbers and colours. The other is made of slots in front of each number for the ball to fall in. Now bets are placed before the ball reaches a particular slot. This ensures fairness of the game. Because numbers and colours are concerned, it also brings up two distinctive types of bets that can be placed.
One type of bets is the outer bets. These bets have larger chances of winning. Thus, their payoff amounts are not very high. At the same time, the frequency of winning these bets is large. The different bets possible ion this category is listed below.
- 1 – 18: This means that of the 36 numbers on the roulette table, you wish to bet on the 18 lower numbers.
- 19 – 36: Conversely, this means that the bet is placed on the higher half of the numbers on the roulette table.
- Black/Red: This means that the bet is placed on either red or black, whichever colour the winning number falls on.
- Even/Odd: This type of bet is placed on the winning numbers’ being even or odd.
- A dozen bet: This bet is placed on a dozen numbers, like the first dozen (12 – 24) or the second or third dozen.
- A Column bet: This bet is placed on all the numbers in one column on the layout.
Inside bets are more specific. This makes the chances of winning these bets low. But, this also increases the payoff amount. Inside bets are listed below
- Straight up: This bet is placed on a specific number.
- Split: Here the bet is split between two adjoining numbers, horizontal or vertical.
- Street: Here the bet is placed between three adjoining numbers, horizontal or vertical.
- Corner: Here the bet is placed on any corner four numbers on the layout.
- Six in a row: This is a bet placed on two adjacent streets.
- Trio: This is a bet placed on three adjacent numbers, the middle one being zero. (for European roulette only)
- Basket: This is a bet placed in American Roulette and is placed on numbers including and immediately next to 0 and 00.
This best form of betting is to combine inside and outside bets. This increases the chance of winning.
